About Lesley Friedmann
Lesley Friedmann's artistic journey began in her childhood just outside Cape Town, South Africa. She displayed an early passion for art by participating in flower arrangement competitions, crafting two-dimensional images with colorful flowers. This desire to capture the world's beauty through art became a lifelong pursuit.
While she was admitted to the Bezalel Art School in Jerusalem, financial constraints led Lesley to pursue Art and Music Education at the University of Victoria, Canada. Her artistic path had its ebbs and flows, including her service in the Israeli Armed Forces and emigration to Canada. However, it was after becoming a mother that Lesley reignited her creative spark, exploring various mediums, including pottery.
Despite her affinity for pottery, Lesley was drawn to two-dimensional art, particularly silk painting. Still, she yearned for more texture, leading her to delve into oil and acrylic painting. Her works display vibrant colors, textured surfaces, and an embossed relief effect achieved through stencils.
Beyond her personal artistry, Lesley has been dedicated to nurturing creativity in others. She served as an Artist in Residence at a local school, inspiring students. She also taught pottery, clay art, and her popular "Painting from the Soul" workshops, witnessing the transformative power of art on emotional and spiritual well-being.
Lesley Friedmann's artistry is a testament to her lifelong passion for capturing beauty and guiding others to do the same.
