Seduction
Seduction depicts sea anemones feeding in a surge channel in the coastal waters off Vancouver Island as seen by Lesley Friedmann during one of her snorkeling expeditions. Now a weekly excursion, Lesley dons her now beloved wetsuit and plunges into the frigid waters around her home town, Victoria, Canada at least once a week regardless of the time of year. She has discovered that, like on land, the waters have their seasons too. During the winter months the clear waters reveal sea creatures and plant life that one is unable to see during the warmer summer months when plankton makes the waters murky. In the summer, Lesley takes extra delight in swimming at night with the bioluminescence. She then can brave the water without wearing a wetsuit. Snorkeling in cold water has had a profound impact on Lesley; each time she goes on an expedition, Lesley enjoys a greater sense of grounding and internal peace. This has helped her tremendously during the pandemic years.
